ABOUT ALLIE
Hi! I’m Allie (she/her). You may be struggling with your sexuality, gender, the effects of religious or childhood trauma, anxiety, or something else. As a queer therapist in Nashville specializing in the needs of LGBTQ+ teens, young adults, and youth, my goal is to create a safe space for you to explore your identity and grow through discovery of authentic connection to self and others.
After many years of feeling unsure and unsteady in myself, my own path to healing and self-acceptance came from the growing realization that all that I am is enough. And this was not without the incredible support of those who I can count on to see me through my evolutions, including the realization of my bisexual identity.
Following an initial winding road of studies in theology, gender, and sexuality, and setting my intention on a career in academia, I made the huge leap to apply to a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program to pursue work as a therapist.
Now I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ teens and young adults, as well as people of all ages struggling with anxiety, ADHD, OCD, understanding their sexual or gender identity, relationship distress, and the effects of religious and childhood trauma.
Healing work can be done at all levels, but I’ve always been drawn to the “ground level” work of counseling and the ability to connect one-on-one with individuals. Please reach out below to schedule a free 15-minute consultation so we can see about fit!
When I’m not working with clients, you can typically find me in the great outdoors with my partner, collecting far too many books than I can fit in our home, or baby-talking to my dearest dog, Bodhi."

MY APPROACH TO THERAPY
I believe that everyone has what they need to heal themselves and, as a therapist, I get to empower my clients through a collaborative therapeutic process. I bring the expertise as the therapist, but my clients are the experts on their own lives and experiences. We work together to work toward the goals my clients' set. I believe change happens through increased self-awareness and insight, as well as through the safety of the therapeutic alliance. When safety and respect are a given, we have the foundation we need to confront obstacles and impact change in our lives.
I hope that therapy can provide a place for my clients to feel that they can be their most authentic selves and receive consistent care and respect in return. I want clients to feel appropriately challenged by the therapeutic work, but that I will always work to meet them where they are - no matter what they're feeling or needing at that time.
“ Starting therapy can feel like a huge first step - and it is! But the experience is yours and we can move at your pace. I'm here to help you determine the path you want to take and to walk alongside you on that journey. ”

When we're hurting, we need a soft place to land. This means experiencing safety and compassion, even when we aren't convinced we're "deserving" of it. We need people who can see our pain and not feel afraid of it - to move closer to us even when the pain feels intimidating or they're unsure of how to help. As a therapist, I can be someone who joins you in that pain, someone who isn't afraid to be with you when you're feeling big or scary emotions.

I learn so much from my clients! The innate power we all have to heal ourselves is something that I'm sure I will always be in awe of. Even my clients who have been sure they are unable to heal or grow and who have struggled with low self-esteem have proven that this innate power exists. It is so incredible when my clients can experience it for themselves and are able to reflect on the changes they've made in their lives or the ways in which they've healed.

Connection with others is the antidote to shame. When we let others see us and care for us, we can understand our inherent value. Although we often experience hurt - and sometimes trauma - in relationships, relationships are also what heals us.

I love to read, bake bread, and periodically start and stop one of the many creative hobbies I have in my rotation (knitting, sewing, collaging, painting, etc.) that I can never seem to fully commit to. I feel most connected when I'm deep in nature on a hike with my husband and our daughter!
