Meet Stan
A queer therapist intern in Nashville, Tennessee specializing in the needs of gay, bi, and queer men, LGBTQ+ teens, and sex-positivity.
Hi y’all, I’m Stan (he/they)! Are you thinking of coming out later in life and wondering how to transition from who you have been to who you are now? Or maybe you’re a teenager who’s just beginning to explore your gender identity and/or sexuality, asking yourself who you are and what that could mean. Are you a gay, bisexual, or queer man having difficulty finding a therapist who understands and connects with your lived experience?
Coming out can feel like meeting yourself for the first time, and that journey to know yourself more authentically can be messy and confusing. There’s no manual that can tell you even where to begin.
I grew up in the rural South as a pansexual kid, isolated from anyone who shared my experience. I came out publicly when I was 28 and have spent years discovering and exploring my identities.
Yet coming out was so liberating and empowering! If you are looking for someone to listen, understand, empathize, empower, and help you through that process, then I would love to be that person.
And as a queer person who’s lived with ADHD my entire life, I understand how society doesn’t consider neurodivergent humans when it designs its structures and systems. It doesn’t try to know and understand people who are different.
That’s why I approach therapy through a combination of person-centered, existential, liberation, and psychodynamic lenses. You are a unique, complex, and vibrant being, not a diagnosis. I am passionate about working with LGBTQ+ teens, those coming out later in life, gay and bi men, neurodivergence, and working with the ethically nonmonogamous, polyamorous, and kink/BDSM communities through a sex-positive lens.
I believe that you have the radical power to enact change within yourself and the world around you, and I would love the chance to know and understand you and your unique experience! Please reach out through the link below to schedule your free consultation. As an intern at Healing Umbrella, I offer deep sliding scale rates.
